What We Believe.

At Sardinia Presbyterian Church we believe:

  • God has spoken and made Himself known in His Holy Word. The Bible is God’s Word, and as such it is true, sufficient, infallible, and inerrant. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 1:2; 2 Peter 1:19-21)

  • There is but one God who infinitely and eternally exists in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This God is unchangeable in His being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth. (Genesis 1:1-2, 26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Psalm 110; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1; John 17; Acts 5:3-4; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

  • In the garden Adam sinned and disobeyed God’s commands, plunging the human race into an estate of sin and misery. This means that all men and women are born guilty and sinful in the sight of the Lord. By nature we are totally unable and incapable of saving ourselves from the just punishment we deserve. We are utterly dependent upon the grace of God to save sinners. (Genesis 3; 6:5; Psalm 51:5; Isaiah 59:1-2; Mark 7:20-23; Romans 3:23; 1 Corinthians 10:13; 1 John 1:8-10)

  • Jesus Christ, as the eternal Son of God who became man, is the “author of salvation” and the only means by which men, women, and children can be saved. It is through his perfect life, sacrificial death, victorious resurrection, triumphant ascension, present dominion, and expectant return that Christians have hope today, tomorrow, and forever. (Isaiah 53; Matthew 3:16-17; Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 5:9)

  • Salvation is freely given by God to whomever He would save. This free gift is received by faith alone for we cannot earn salvation by good works or deeds. The only thing we contribute to a saving relationship in Christ is our own sin. (Genesis 15:6; Romans 6:23; Galatians 3:6-9; 1 John 1:9)

  • That Jesus Christ will come again in glory and judgment. On that day the dead will be raised and those who are in Christ will be restored to life eternal with him forever in the New Heavens and the New Earth. (Joel 2:31-32; Isaiah 2:20-22; Matthew 24:36; 1 Corinthians 15; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 1:7; 22:12-13)
